Being a caregiver for a senior loved one can be in equal parts frustrating and fulfilling. Whether you are just beginning your journey as a caregiver or are a grizzled veteran, the following information is intended to offer education and support.

Seek support from other caregivers. You are not alone and no matter how long you have been doing it, talking to someone helps!
Make sure you take care of your own health, and do not neglect yourself. You need to ensure that you stay healthy so that you are strong enough to take care of your loved one.
Do not be too proud to accept help from others. This does not mean that you are letting your loved one down. Accept others help and do not be too shy to suggest specific things that people can do to help you
Learn how to communicate effectively with doctors
Be open to new technologies that can help your loved one.
Watch out for signs of depression and do not delay getting professional help when you need it.
Caregiving is work - so take respite breaks often.
Organize medical information so it is up to date and easy to find.
Make sure legal documents are in order.
