DID YOU KNOW THAT... 5 MS Biopharma: a rockstar incubator! Former students of the MsM and professionals with varied careers were interviewed in order to determine what brought them together and what differentiated them. They highlighted the fundamental characteristics that make a student a successful professional. The specialised Master in Biopharma- ceutical Management (MsM) of ESCP Business School strives to offer the same environment as the one in incubators by helping students and support them to achieve their goals. Firstly, students of the MsM have the opportunity to develop themselves by being connected with in- dividuals with different educational back- grounds (pharmacists, engineers, medi- cal doctors, PhD, etc.). Secondly, they can create a strong network with alumni, MsM practitioners and specially other students in the class who will be pursuing similar careers. This network is the main strength of the MsM and allows students to discuss with various guests. Finally, students are motivated to acquire business knowledge in order to complete their scientific trai- ning and be fully prepared to be as ex- cellent as possible in the job market. The balance between soft and hard skills At the beginning of her or his career, a young graduate relies a lot on hard skills that have been developed during her or his education. This behaviour is a pure product of French education as students are pushed to be individually excellent based on their knowledge. Benjamin Veisse, Célia Munck However, as proven by MsM alumni and other professionals, the most important thing through your professional path is the strength of your soft skills. The MsM gave the opportunity to Julie Rachline, MsM 2005, CEO of LillianSE to work in various positions to support the R&D projects valuation. The crucial soft skills are caring and empathy. Wenjing Liu, MsM 2014, Associate Direc- tor, Medical Operation Solid Tumor Wes- tern Europe & Canada Abbvie, is another example of success. Proactivity, endu- rance and agility are essentials to achieve professional objectives. All interviewers agree that the most important strengths are positive and efficient communication, the capacity to think in the long term and the ability to build long lasting professio- nal and personal relationships. Developing these abilities allows students to capitalize on something even more important, luck. Besides, as stated by Jean-François Brochard, General Mana- ger Roche France and sponsor of the 2020 MsM class, the best opportunity will arise when you stay open.
