P. 2
If we’re fortunate, we will live a full life untouched by the shadow of cancer, sparing not only ourselves but those we love more than life. Yet, this kind of fortune escapes most. As the years pass, it becomes almost inevitable that either we or someone we love will face this cruel, unpredictable disease. Cancer, like some mythical creature with an insatiable appetite, steals away the people we treasure, one by one. I’ve lost more than my fair share—friends, family members, pillars of strength—and each loss leaves a wound that never truly heals...
There is no preparing for the moment when someone you love is engulfed in that battle, and no words can ease the sting of knowing you cannot fix it.
The helplessness that accompanies the fight against cancer is profoundly humbling. You become a silent witness to their struggle, watching as they endure the unrelenting weight of treatments, of hopes raised and shattered. And yet, somehow, amid the harshness, there is grace. There’s a quiet beauty in their strength, their ability to face the unknown with courage you couldn’t have imagined. It teaches you that love is more than a cure; it’s a presence, a hand to hold, a promise that even in the darkest hours, they won’t face it alone. Cancer takes, but it also illuminates. It forces us to reckon with the fragility of life and the immeasurable value of the moments we share. In witnessing the journey of those we love, we learn to treasure time and embrace love fiercely because, in the face of something so uncontrollable, those are the only things we have.
For those of you, who’ve never experienced this...
I pray you never do,
For those on this journey now, I pray for your healing and strength...And for those of you who have survived and are surviving and thriving ...
I pray for your continued blessings
