               The median income for Genesee county households is $47,000. Black households have the lowest income at $29,500 with 60% of households are ALICE households or are living in poverty. For comparison, the median income for Asian households is $110,000. Only White and Asian households have median incomes above the population median, and in this population around 30% and 40% of households are ALICE or living in poverty. A much greater percentage of families with a black or multiracial householder (26% and 23%, respectively) are living in poverty than those with white householders (10%). These rates are much higher for families with a female householder and no husband present. It is particularly high in the case of multiracial single, multiracial, female heads of families with 58% of this group living in poverty (Table 2).
