The Vision, Mission and Guiding Principle Statements of the FGLN were crafted through a series of discussions with the FGLN Steering Committee and with various stakeholders identified by that committee. Existing mission and vision statements were considered in the process, but participants were specifically asked to look at how things may have evolved for the network since the original statements were written.
The discussions that generated these statements were vigorous and helped to clearly define the unique, necessary, and very specifically targeted purpose of the network in the communities it serves. This latter point — of the focused targets of the work of the network — is clearly reflected in the four priorities spelled out in the Vision Statement.
