Summer High School Challenge Camp Starting in 2008, the first Summer High School Challenge launched which was a collaborative effort by Mott Community College Livingston Center, Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS), Work Skills Corporation (WSC), Livingston Essential Transportation Services (LETS), and Livingston Education Ser- vice Agency (LESA) to provide an opportunity for upper level high school students with Asperger’s Syndrome that would prepare them to transition into their next venture after high school. Today, this camp consists of a sequence of training and job experiences designed to enhance the cognitive strengths of the participants and give them tools to compensate for some of their differences. The students will participate in basic computer instruction, computer animation and life skills classes, and will work in job situations throughout Livingston County. This camp produces remarkable results and has been recognized as the “Outstanding Workforce Development Program” by the Living- ston County Workforce Development Council. The program will begin in June and end with a graduation celebration in August. At graduation, the students will showcase their accomplishments in the classroom as well as enjoy a slide show showing them performing jobs in the various workplaces they experienced.
