Osteopathic Scholarship
The Ginn scholarship was established through a generous donation from Geri and Robert Witt to honor Mrs. Witt’s parents who were avid supporters of COMP and the Osteopathic profession. This award is presented to a deserving student chosen for academic excellence, community service, and financial need.
John Adams
Class of 2021
John “Taylor” has an unmatched spirit to serve. His ability to speak Spanish fluently has allowed
him work with people in several countries. Additionally, Taylor is a youth mentor and has developed lasting relationships with students who have become successful as
a result. At WesternU, Taylor is involved with the Pomona Community Health Action Team
(PCHAT) where he serves as a Spanish interpreter and clinic coordinator. He also gives his time to “Healing Hearts Across Borders” and makes monthly trips to Tijuana, Mexico to help the homeless population. Taylor still makes time to give back to his church where he ministers to families and engages in many church-sponsored community activities.
Wong Family Scholarship
The award was established by Dr. Stanley Wong and his son, Andrew Wong, in honor of Dr. Wong’s mother, Yan-Hai Choi Wong. This scholarship is awarded to a student for academic excellence and outstanding community service.
Sharon Woo
Class of 2022
Sharon believes that “there are
no prerequisites necessary for helping others” and her actions back the statement. In college
she joined UCLA Students for Community Outreach, Promotion, and Education (SCOPE)
and helped educate the local
underserved community about available resources. At WesternU, Sharon has served as the
Vice President of the Sports Medicine Club and helped organize low-cost sports physicals for local student athletes. She has served as Treasurer for the Asian-American Health Professions Student Association (AAHPSA). Sharon is
also a math tutor for middle school students at Briggs Fundamental School.
