Chapter 21 (175) GOSPEL OF MATTHEW
Continue on Palm Sunday:
But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the amazing things that he was doing and that children were shouting in the temple and saying “Hosanna to the son of David,” they were very displeased. They asked him, “Do you hear what these children are saying?” Jesus replied, “Yes! Have you never read: Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise?”
Read on Friday:
He left them, went out of the city to Bethany and spent the night there.

n the morning, as he was returning to the city,
he was hungry. *Seeing a fig tree by the road- side, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves. He said to it, “Let there be no fruit from you, unto the ages!” Immediately the fig tree withered away! When the disciples saw it, they marveled and asked, “How did the fig tree with- er away at once?” End to Friday.

At that time, as Jesus was returning to the city, he was hungry ...*
