Chapter 6 (475) GOSPEL OF LUKE

hy do you call me, Lord, Lord, and do not
do what I say? I will show you what the per- son is like who comes to me, hears my words and does them. He is like a man building a house who dug and went deep, and laid a foundation on the rock. When a flood arose, the water rushed against that house but could not shake it, be- cause it was founded on the rock. But the one who hears and does not practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foun- dation. The stream rushed against it, and at once it fell down; and the ruin of that house was great.”

heart, a good person brings out what is
good, but out of the evil treasure of
his heart, one who is evil brings
out what is evil. For out of the
overflowing of the heart,
