Chapter 7 (481) GOSPEL OF LUKE
his news concerning Jesus spread *through-
out Judea and in all the surrounding coun- tryside. John’s disciples told him about all these things. John called two of his disciples and sent them to Jesus to ask, “Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for another?” When the men reached Jesus, they said, “John the Bap- tist has sent us to you, saying: Are you the one who is coming or should we look for another?” At that very time, Jesus had been healing many diseases, plagues and evil spirits; and had given sight to many who were blind. Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have Good News preached to them. Blessed is he who is not offended by me!” When John’s disciples had de- parted, Jesus began to tell the multitudes about John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? What then did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft cloth- ing? Behold, those who are gorgeously dressed
