Chapter 8 (59) GOSPEL OF MATTHEW
   fulfilled: He took our infirmities, and bore our diseases. Now when Jesus saw great crowds around him, he gave the order to depart to the other side. A scribe came and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go!” Je- sus replied, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” Another of his disci- ples said to Jesus, “Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.” But Jesus replied, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”

Behold, a violent storm came up on the sea, so much that the waves swept over the boat, but Jesus was asleep. His disciples came to him and woke him up, saying, “Save us, Lord! We are dy- ing!” He said to them, “Why are you fearful, you of little faith? “Then he stood up, rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm.
