am the true vine, and my Father is the vine dresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit, he takes away, and every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, so that it may bear more fruit. You have already
been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to
you. Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch
cannot bear fruit by itself unless it remains in
the vine, neither can you, unless you remain in
me. I am the vine, you are the branches! Who-
ever remains in me and I in him bears much fruit,
for apart from me, you can do nothing. Anyone
who does not remain in me is thrown out as a
branch and is withered. Such branches are gath-
ered, thrown into the fire, and burned! If you re-
main in me and if my words remain in you, ask
whatever you desire and it will be done for you.

In this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit, and this is how you will be my dis- ciples.
