still life that is vibrant with movement; scenes of war that somehow convey harmony and peace, and saints and worldly souls, the artist gradually teases us to try and distinguish the sacred and the profane. His gift is that he manages with the book to weave a “coat of many colors,” revealing a theological and artistic vi- sion uniquely his own with the potential to extend the vision of the Holy beyond the walls of the Temple, revealing unseen icons littered throughout all Cre- ation.
This is a book to linger with and enjoy, over and over, allowing it to speak wordlessly to the heart, which the mathematician Blaise Paschal came to un- derstand “has reasons that reason does not know.” We can all be grateful; anticipate and hope that this is the first of many blooms from a precious new gar- den pungent with fragrances not entirely of this world but discovered within it, in all places and fill- ing all things—one that heralds the coming of the New Jerusalem, which is among us ... but not yet.
Cosmic Champion, acrylic on canvas, 2023
In this imaginative artwork, a figure who embodies a tennis player stands on a globe, kicking a tennis ball that morphs into a vibrant planet, symbolizing the convergence of sports, cre- ativity, and cosmic forces. With intense focus, the player’s gaze is locked on the ball, reflecting a deep immersion not only in the sport but in the act of creation itself, merging the artistry of athletics with visual expression. The surrounding celestial bodies in the heavens underscore the scene’s cosmic scale, ele- vating the tennis match to an interstellar spectacle that inter- twines physical sport, artistic endeavor, and the mysteries of the universe.
