THe COMPLeTiON OF THe DeČaNi MONASTERY, 1346/47
(...) the church (...) of the Pantocrator was built and wall- painted and completed in the days of the most excellent, no- ble and holy first Tzar Stephen, the son of the most excel- lent King Uroš of all Serbian lands and the littoral (...) in memory and remembrance of Holy King Stephen Uroš the Third, in the year 6855 (1346/47).

in the year 6856 (1348), We, Stephen Dušan, by the grace of God emperor of all Serbian and Greek Lands and the Lit- toral, donate this cross which contains a particle of the Holy Cross on which our Lord jesus Christ was crucified, to the home of Pantocrator named Dečani [Monastery]. By the will of God and with the help of the Holy Spirit in the Trinity, this edifice dedicated to the Lord Our God Panto- crator in memory and remembrance of the God-enlightened and noble King Stephen Uroš the Third, the sovereign of all Serbian lands and the littoral, to whom may it be memory eternal, in the days of his pious and holy and glorious son Kyrr Stephen, the first emperor of all Serbian and Greek lands and the littoral and his son King Stephen Uroš, in the year 6856, of 11th indiction. May the Lord pardon arsenije, the first abbot of the monastery, who took care of and made efforts in this holy place!

This Church of the Holy Mother of God was erected by Da- biživ, Drobnjak’s grandson, with his brother Hrana and with Bogoje, and with his father, a monk, and with his mother Višnja. in the days of emperor Stephen, Dabiživ himself in- scribed the following:—This temple of the Holy Mother of
God was built by Dabiživ and Bogoje with their brother Hra- na; [Dabiživ is] Drobnjak’s grandson, in the days of emper- or Stephen, in the year 6863 (1355).

This is the grave of ivaniš altomanović, Despot ivaniš’s grandson, a nephew of Prince Lazar, may his memory be eternal!

These sacred books shall belong to the Church of the all-holy Mother of God of Lipljan, in the village called Gra- čanica, by order of the Most Reverend archbishop Kyrr Si- mon who endeavored a lot in this holy monastery, built ev- erything from its foundation and adorned it and filled it with every proper righteousness, both exterior and interior (...) [The book was] transcribed (in the month of january?) 6942, in the seventh year after the demise of the devout Despot Stephen, during the reign of the godless Turkish emperor Murat-bey, in the area of the town of Skoplje, in the village of Vitomirci in the church of the Holy ascension of the Lord our God and Savior jesus Christ (...)
