ing viewers to reflect on the profound connec-
tions between art, philosophy, and the human
spirit. Each portrait, each scene, is a gateway into
a world of thought and creativity, a call to engage
with the legacies that continue to shape our un-
derstanding of existence.
Although the exhibition is primarily dedicat-
ed to German luminaries, it also includes a few
portraits of famous individuals who have a signif-
icant connection to Germany, such as Ivo Andrić,
Fyodor Dostoevsky, Anna Netrebko, and Miloš
Crnjanski. These figures, while not German by
origin, have left an indelible mark on the cultural
and intellectual landscape associated with Ger-
many, enriching the exhibition’s scope and invit-
ing a broader reflection on the interconnected-
ness of creative contributions across nations.
I am deeply grateful to Metropolitan Grigorije
for organizing this exhibition and to the Holy
Cross Church in Berlin for their generous hospi-
tality, which made this special occasion possible.
I warmly invite you to explore this exhibition
and join me in celebrating the remarkable contri-
butions of these Lichtgestalten. Together, let us
journey through this kaleidoscope of vision, in-
spiration, and beauty.

Bismarck’s Steed: The Gaze of Command, acrylic on canvas panel, 2022
This painting depicts the head of a horse in motion, surrounded by vibrant, unrestrained
brushstrokes that echo its untamed energy. Its commanding gaze, elevated above us,
draws the viewer in with an intensity that bridges raw movement and regal presence.
Intended as the steed of German statesman Otto von Bismarck, the horse symbolizes
power, leadership, and freedom, embodying the spirit of its legendary rider. The vivid
colors and dynamic composition bring this historical grandeur to life.
