prayer of St. Paisios
Lord of forgiveness,
grant me the grace not to call the liar “liar,”
nor the murderer “murderer.”
Instead, let me say,
“this poor soul was led astray and fell into sin,
and I am led astray by so many things!”
As St. Paisios taught us,
“when you read in the newspapers that
they caught a certain murderer,
do not judge him,
but say instead,
they wrote about him in big letters in the newspaper,
they haven’t written about me yet
because… they don’t know me.”
