Ι Heard You…
43
before the throne
Lord,
Now that I stand before Your Throne,
I lose the awe that would be fitting for the moment.
I unfold prayer to a friendly chat
with those worn-out, trivial, and degraded words,
those eroded in mundane dialogues with buddies.
My prayer falls to this low level.
Not to mention other moments
where prayer gets tangled with the memory of sin,
or with cursed desires buzzing in my ears
like persistent flies.
Indeed, You are the one who encourages us
to knock on Your door at any time.
But I earnestly beseech You: erase my ambivalence!
I deeply yearn for an earthquake
that will shake my existence to its core,
which yesterday, during the Sunday Eucharist,
was absent due to drowsiness and indifference.
An earthquake of Your Holy Spirit
that will awaken the longing for Your love,
Jesus, my sweetest Bridegroom!
