And even if a book is published—I may exaggerate—but it is
difficult to identify a truly great theologian or a truly great book.
There are those with whom one may agree or disagree. But one
who can offer a new vision is not easily discerned.
And this is what originality is: to offer another a new perspec-
tive—to say, “Stand here, and look from there.” But any new idea
today struggles to endure.
And yet the human being continues to search—almost to
plead—for a way in which truth might once again take root,
grow slowly, and be received by living persons rather than scat-
tered into the wind.
