Chapter 24 (661) GOSPEL OF LUKE
find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining gar- ments. Terrified, the women bowed their faces to the ground. The two men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but he is risen! Remember what he told you when he was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, be crucified, and on the third day rise again?” Then, they remembered Jesus’ words. Returning from the tomb, they told all these things to the eleven, and to all the others. Now, they were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told these things to the apostles. But their words seemed to be nonsense to them, and they did not believe them.

his home, wondering what had taken place.
