 Two poems, same author (12th grade)
Tree’s root system is as big
As the tree itself.
You don't know what's
Down the soil,
And you won't have
The courage to dig.
Because you're afraid
You won't like
The rest of the tree.
Who had never had more
Than a lamp in his entire life,
Was surprised with the
Shiniest of the stars,
That had fallen near where
He was passing by.
In the wake of such a
Mystical event,
Its light he was afraid to
Waste,
And rushed to keep his
Prize unspent.
And suddenly out of sight;
He learned delusion could also
Shine as bright.
He must have felt
Out of his mind.
