                    As a business owner or building owner/occupier you must appoint a ‘Responsible Person’
A responsible person can be:
• an employer
• owner
• landlord
• occupier
• facilities manager, building manager or anyone else with control of
the premises.
What should the responsible person do?
• Carry out a fire safety risk assessment and review it regularly.
• Inform staff or representatives about any risks that have been identified during the risk assessment.
• Plan for emergencies.
• Provide staff with information and
training.
To help reduce the risk of any accidents or incidents take the below information into account.
• Keep flammable substances away from sources of ignition.
• Have the correct fire extinguishers and signage in place.
• Install smoke alarms, fire alarms or bells to help detect and warn people in the event of a fire.
