REVOLUTION RAIL
A Unique Way to Tour Cape May
  NEW JERSEY’S SOUTHERN SHORE
is famed for its stunning beaches, bays, boardwalks, and delightful dining. There are plenty of indoor activities for the rare occasions when outdoor activities are nearly impossible, but what about outdoor attractions for those who want to go beyond the “salt life?” When the sun shines, and you crave adventure beyond the salt-kissed air, we have just the experience for you!
Nestled in the Jersey Cape, Revolution Rail offers a unique adventure that launched in 2020 and quickly became a must-do activity. Starting from the Cape May Welcome Center on Lafayette Street, this guided railbiking tour pedals along a scenic four-mile route to the Cape May Canal, with a stop at the Garrett Family Preserve. Here, you’re not just a visitor but an explorer, accompanied by a knowledgeable naturalist who shares the secrets of local flora and fauna.
The 90-minute journey pedals through landscapes from saltmarsh to wildflower meadows, and provides glimpses of wildlife,
including songbirds, raptors, and butterflies. With tours departing every two hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. – and extended hours during peak season – you can choose the perfect time to embark. Pack your favorite snacks and drinks to savor during the leisurely stops.
For a night to remember, join the magical full moon ride. Illuminated rail bikes guide you to a picnic spot near the Cape May Canal for an enchanting twilight experience. Enjoy your treats and share stories – maybe even tales of ghosts, pirates, and the legendary Jersey Devil. l
