“There are five key business areas in healthcare in which AI can improve clinical operation workflows, present revenue-saving opportunities, and foster the emerging field of preventative medicine,” according to Business Insider Intelligence’s Laurie Beaver. She wrote:
1. Administration. AI automates tasks such as filing insurance claims, following-up on unpaid bills, and maintaining records. Approximaltely30% of healthcare costs are associated with administrative tasks, which can be automated
2. Big data analysis. Big data processes can analyze vast sums of data to tease out actionable health insights. Big data upports predictive analysis, helping health systems pinpoint areas of patient care.
3. Clinical decision support. CDS supports physicians’ diagnoses and treatment plans. CDS augments physician decision making and medical recall to enhance treatments.
4. Remote patient monitoring. RPM analyzes RPM device data and alert consumers and physicians of impending health issues. The RPM devices provide clinicians with insights into consumer behavior outside of the clinical setting.
5. Care provision. Care provision gathers patients’ symptoms and medical history, and presents possible diagnoses, along with care recommendations.
