FHA faces challenges attracting first time homebuyers
Monthly housing costs are up 9% in the last year to a U.S. average of $1,641, making the path to first time home ownership even more challenging. Moreover, first-time homebuyers have an even greater challenge in high cost markets, such as Bay Area, CA (14% one year increase), Seattle (13%) and Las Vegas (12%). Homeownership costs continue to grow faster than incomes, making it very difficult for the entry-level buyer to own their own home. (John Burns Real Estate Blog, Devyn Bachman, 04/20/18)
