Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center – PWELC is a regional center for environmental education, outdoor recreation and team building. Enjoy a beautiful 500-acre outdoor classroom featuring self-guided trails through prairie, woods and wetlands with 7 miles of hiking and groomed cross country ski trails. Spicer Castle – The Spicer Castle hosts a hilarious murder mystery dinner every Friday and Saturday night year-round. Kulter Hus - The store is located in downtown Sunburg at 211 Front Street. It is the historical site of the Sunburg Café. It consists of a retail outlet for imported items and Norwegian books. In addition there are piano lessons offered on Saturdays as well as informal times for folk music. Norwegian is emphasized on Friday afternoons with a Norwegian speaking hour followed by lessons in the Norwegian language. Upstairs there is an art gallery presently displaying the art of Jack Norman. It is informal with the coffee pot on for visitors. Norway Lake Log Church – The old church (located at 9601 195th
Avenue NW between Pennock and Sunburg) is a replica of the log church built in 1868 by Norwegian settlers. In addition there is an original log granary that now serves as an Interpretive Center and a restored log cabin originally constructed in 1861. All are open to the public. Tours are hosted by request. There are also regularly scheduled events such as Vesper Services each Saturday night throughout the summer and an anniversary celebration the third Sunday in August. Dog Park – Willmar now has a no-fee dog park for everyone to use! The dog park, open from dawn to dusk, is divided into two sections, one for large dogs and one for small dogs. It has a double gated entry, plenty of shade, benches, dog waste bags and garbage cans. There is also a water source and a shelter just outside of the fenced area for you to use. The only item required is a current dog license for the town you live in. The dog park rules can be viewed at www.willmarcer.com
Dorothy Olson Aquatic Center – Attractions include two one-meter diving boards, two towering water slides, kiddie slide, zero depth pool with interactive toy features and a six lane 15-yard recreational pool. Located at 1601 22nd Street SW, Willmar. Amenities include chaise lounges, concessions, umbrellas and picnic tables. Open daily during the summer from 12-7 p.m. weather permitting. Fee applies. Foxhole Brewhouse – Foxhole Brewhouse is located in downtown Willmar and is the city’s only Brewery. It offers a regular line-up of beers in addition to seasonals, which include a pale ale brewed with simcoe and chinook hops, a rye IPA and a coffee stout. Glacial Ridge Curling – Curling is a team sport that requires skill and strategy and dates back to Scotland some 500 years ago. Glacial Ridge Curling was formed in 2004 and has steadily grown. They have various leagues and activities available. Open curling with instructors on most Saturday evenings November-March at the Willmar Civic Center Blue Line Arena.
