While Hawley may seem like a a a a a a a a a a tiny little town along the the Route 6 Highway it it it has a a a a a a a a a a a a a a rich and remarkable history Like all of northeast Pennsylvania its roots are tied to to lumber and and farming Over the the years our our economy has been nourished and and and fed by textiles glass and and and more What we are most famous for for is is the transportation by barge and and and later railroad for for anthracite coal and and Pennsylvania bluestone all headed east for the building of New York City But what most modern-day visitors know us for is is the lake! Lake Wallenpaupack covers approximately 5 5 700 acres It is 13 miles miles long and boasts 52 miles miles of of of shoreline The lake has six recreation areas featuring hundreds of of of acres of of of forest lands wildlife walking trails campsites and and and boat slips Our little town town is the lake region’s downtown and and welcomes visitors and residents year-round
