“BE THE CHANGE!
ROAR SOME MORE IN ‘24
and
INSPIRE OTHERS THROUGH SERVICE”
Greetings, Fellow Lions and Leos,
Let’s do more in 2024!
As we start the second half of this Lionistic Year “Changing the World” and “Inspiring Others Through Service,” I urge
you to do “more.” Let’s forge ahead with Mission 1.5 by increasing membership. Let’s continue to support our
communities and those in need with purposeful acts of service, Let’s respond to IPIP Brian Sheehan’s appeal for
contributions to LCIF.
We are in the harsh winter season and this brings an increase in acute health emergencies, economic and social
hardships among our underserved communities. Despite the seasonal inconveniences that Lions and Leos may also
experience, I urge you to consider the prescription by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “The ultimate measure of a man is
not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands in times of challenge and
controversy”.
Every act of kindness is vitally important to the recipient, especially after the generosity of the holidays may have waned.
As committed volunteers, our spirit of responsibility remains toward our motto “We Serve.” It is the engine that should
propel us to make that extra effort to continue supporting our fellow man. No matter the season, I encourage you to be
vigilant and research opportunities to help make the world a better place. As our esteemed founder Melvin Jones
advocates, “You can’t get very far until you start doing something for someone else”.
Kudos to CC Ingrid Andrews-Campbell and her committee that championed a distinctive Humanitarian Awards
Celebration with a program that acknowledged the extraordinary service of last year’s honorees. With a focus on
Empowering Service : Changing Lives. Dr. Tamia B. Williams, the highly esteemed guest speaker challenged us to
“Expect the Best and Nothing Less” as we engage in our service projects.

Our 67 Mid-Winter Convention is scheduled for February 17, 2024. We look forward to an inspiring address from ID
Luis Jesus Castillo Gamboa, a solemn Memorial Service to commemorate our departed Lions’ legacy of service and
several options to attend instructional and enlightening workshops or interesting exhibitors’ display booths. Other
upcoming District events include LDUN (March1, 2024) where we will learn how Lions and other stakeholders across the
globe are partnering to strengthen the bonds of peace. Don’t miss this opportunity to participate and fellowship with
representatives from around the world. The 100 MD20 New York State and Bermuda Lions Convention (May 3-5 in
th
Binghamton, NY) promises to be A BIG ONE! So, register early! Finally, you want to take part in the largest Lions’ event
of the year ~ the International Convention in Melbourne, Australia! Register early, secure your visa and get ready to
experience the “globalness” of the Lions family.
Stay warm and safe as you serve!
YIL,
DG Antonio Robles
