The labyrinth in the covered souks of Aleppo is a maze of wonder. No tourist trinkets. No tourists! A market as it should be. Sometimes chaotic! Always colourful.
A wool merchant dozing at his stall. The central portion of the painting bled of colour. Everything changes now. It speaks of the dangers of passivity. Every painting contains a segment of self-portraiture, from the past, the present, perhaps even the future. A rude awakening follows.
