PROVIDE A HEALTHY WORK/LIFE BALANCE
Last but not least, provide and encourage a healthy work/life balance. As already mentioned, senior leadership needs to work on their work/life balance first. “Do as I say, not as I do” does not work. Employees look to what senior staff does to see what the expectations are.
Offer flexible scheduling to anyone whose role does not require set hours. If somebody wants to come in early to beat the afternoon rush or work late because they are not a morning person let them. Work from home options are fantastic if you can support them.
Provide enough sick time and vacation time, and make sure that senior staff takes theirs so that other employees are not afraid to. One peculiarity of unlimited paid time off is that it tends to result in people taking less vacation.
