77% = $2.5 BILLION OF OUR TOTAL SUBCONTRACTOR SPEND SINCE 2006 HAS GONE TO SMBS.
In 2019, Corvias continued its tradition of supporting small, local and minority-owned businesses, with 77 percent of our total subcontractor spend going to these businesses for a total of $2.5 billion.
In fact, for our partnership with North Carolina Central University, Corvias is using the highest concentration of minority and black women-owned enterprises (MBWE) as subcontractors of any construction project in the entire state.
Through its Mentor Protégé Program (MPP), the Clean Water Partnership has trained and mentored more than 25 local firms to better position them to bid
for future contracts. Training includes not only technical skills, but also general business practices (e.g. budgeting, scheduling) to ensure these businesses are positioned for growth. Nearly $18 million has been awarded to target class firms taking part in the MPP.
Since graduating from the first Clean Water Partnership (CWP) MPP cohort in 2017, Grace Management & Construction, LLC has performed as a sub and prime contractor on multiple CWP projects. The Prince George’s County based
firm has also increased their bonding capacity from $250,000 to $3,000,000, completed approximately 300 pond maintenance and retrofit task orders in Baltimore County, MD, significantly increased their bank line of credit, and since August 2018, continues to perform site work improvements for the City of Mount Rainier.
