PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING:
The district’s certified school psychologist utilizes standardized tests, curriculum-based measures, and behavior rating scales with parental permission. A clinical psychologist provides consultative services from Allegheny County Intermediate Unit III when needed. These assessments are completed as part of a multidisciplinary evaluation.
SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS: Board Policy 113
Plum Borough School District provides a free, appropriate, public education (FAPE) to exceptional students consistent with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) of 2004. Identification procedures ensure eligible students receive an appropriate program consisting of individualized special education and related services. The placement of students is assessed by a team process, in order to determine the level of services a student may need.
TECHNOLOGY/1:1 DEVICES:
All students will receive a district-issued Google Chromebook. Information specific to our 1:1 technology program, Chromebooks, and purchase of technology insurance information can be accessed by visiting the Plum Borough Technology Section of our district webpage. To protect our students while on district devices and network, Plum Borough School District uses Lightspeed Relay, a filtering and monitoring service that blocks access to inappropriate content and provides detailed reporting regarding our students' web searches and browsing activity on district-provided devices. For added protection, we also employ Bark for Schools, an intelligent monitoring system which scans our Google Suite (including but not limited to Classroom, Gmail, Docs, and Slides) and flags possible indicators of cyberbullying, suicidal ideation, sexual predation, and more. All parents have the option to receive reports regarding their child's activity on district devices with the parent report generator. To sign up for these reports, please email techsupport@pbsd.net with your student's name and ID number and we will set you up to receive these reports automatically.
TEXTBOOKS/INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS:
Students are responsible for the instructional materials that they are assigned to them at the beginning of the program. These books/materials will be collected at the end of the summer and should reflect normal usage. If the books or materials are in any other condition, the student will be assessed a fee accordingly.

If you need to speak to one of your child's teachers, principals, or school administrators please email or call the school, or the person directly to leave them a message. Voicemail extensions and email addresses can be found under the
Contact tab of the PBSD webpage. An appointment will need to be made in order to enter the building. You may only enter through the main school entrance by being buzzed in and proceeding into the office. If you will be entering the school, please bring a valid state-issued driver's license with you. Your license will be scanned before you are issued a visitor's badge. All visitors with a purse/bag/backpack or any similar device commonly used to carry items will be asked to consent to a search of that item. If consent is not given, the visitor will be denied entry into the building. The visitor will reserve the option to return the item to their vehicle and re-enter the building without the item. For student pick-ups and drop-offs during school hours, buzz the front door to speak with the administrative assistant. You will be permitted in the vestibule to sign your student in or out.
*K-8 Parents sign in/out in vestibules: When dropping off or picking up students, they will not be let in or out of the main office if the parent/adult is still in the vestibule. Parents/adults must wait outside of the exterior door after signing students in/out.
