What the quantitative data does not capture is the renewed commitment of the Archdiocese to Catholic education through two long-term efforts focused on Catholic schools and parish catechetical programs: The Roadmap for Excellence in Catholic Education and the Archdiocesan strategic plan for parish catechesis.
Described extensively in other documents, they are in summary form here below to provide further context for understanding the direction of Catholic education in the Archdiocese.
ROADMAP EXCELLENCE
in Catholic Education
The Roadmap for Excellence in Catholic Education will guide and coordinate the strategic approach of the Archdiocese in the essential work of Catholic schools. Engaging local and national experts under the leadership of the Archbishop, the Roadmap seeks to capture initiatives seen as essential in shaping the future of our Catholic schools over the next three to five years and involves a multi-faceted statement of our commitment to Catholic education.
In July 2019, the Archdiocese engaged national consultants to assist the Office for the Mission of Catholic Education in the development of a catechetical plan for parish faith formation. Since that time, these field experts have been gathering information on the state of catechesis in the Archdiocese. They have met with a wide variety of local individuals and groups involved in this important work. This initial phase of the strategic process will conclude in spring 2020 with a report and recommendations for consideration. The goal is to identify concrete ways that the Archdiocese can best serve parishes, pastors, and catechetical professionals in sharing the truth and love of Jesus Christ.
