The Bible says “God helps those that help themselves” (Though that is written nowhere in the Bible)
A time comes wherein the cotton candy
Of these placating sayings—
That a friend says while they lightly touch our hand And toss in a sympathetic nod,
Or that we say in the corner of our minds Where we bubble wrap our denied aversions
A time comes when these sayings,
