P. 3

 Dear ARCS Community,
This past year was both exciting and challenging as ARCS Foundation Oregon experienced significant growth and change.
In 2021-22, ARCS supported 79 promising STEM scientists at OHSU, OSU,
and UO. Our Foundation was also awarded the largest grant in our organization’s history from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. This significant investment helped us become the first ARCS Chapter in the nation to hire an executive director who will lead our day-to-day operations, and support continued statewide growth in membership, volunteerism, and fundraising.
ARCS scholars are the physicians, scientists, entrepreneurs, professors, and engineers of tomorrow. They accelerate research every day and bring new ideas to problem-solving. They inspire other students and faculty mentors to try new and innovative approaches.
With your support, ARCS Foundation Oregon continued to partner with our state’s top research universities to recruit promising STEM scientists to our state. Despite the ongoing limitations presented by the pandemic and a challenging investment environment, the number of ARCS awards granted to outstanding scientists and engineers continued to increase over prior years.
I am deeply honored and grateful to be in the ARCS community with all of you–– brilliant scholars, visionary academic and industry leaders, dedicated researchers, generous philanthropists, and committed volunteers. You give me hope for the future. And when we collaborate, we WILL succeed in finding solutions to some of our world's most challenging issues!
With Gratitude,
Anne Jarvis
President, 2021–2022
