Johnson Scholarship Foundation CEO Report to the Board of Directors 11/16/2021
STAFF/ OFFICE:
CEO REPORT
We will be moving the JSF office down the street to comparable office space in the spring. There is a scenario where we may be required to vacate our current location before the new space is completed. If that is the case, the new landlord has committed to work with us with a temporary space.
We are transitioning our financial processes and reporting to QuickBooks. Audit Consultant Buzz Howard has agreed to participate in the project. We have engaged Kiwi Partners to consult, facilitate and train staff in the transition.
In 2022 I plan to initiate a discussion with senior staff members to formalize a transition/ succession plan.
ANNUAL REPORT:
Look for the first distribution of the 2021 Annual Report to be circulated by January 31.
CANADIAN DIRECTORS TRAVEL DOCUMENT:
After speaking with Attorney Sarah Tobocman of Gunster, I was persuaded that the previous travel documents her law firm had prepared for Canadian Directors could simply be updated with current information. Sarah shared with me that there had been no material changes in regulations and that the form of the letter remained appropriate. Sharon has updated the documents and forwarded them to Hugh, David and Mike.
DILIGENT BOARDS/ WEBSITE PORTAL:
Migration of our historical material continues to evolve.
UPCOMING MEETINGS:
I’d like to occasionally invite a guest speaker to a JSF dinner when we gather 3 times a year. The subject matter would be intellectually stimulating and engaging. The speakers would be reasonably compensated, and JSF’s organizational and social culture would benefit. I’d like to get the Board’s blessing and solicit any ideas or potential speakers.
We have secured a reservation at Hazelton Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for our March 2022 meeting.
