CRISIS-TIME SUPPORT
FOR INVESTOR LANDLORDS
In 2020 our solicitors continued to assist investor clients from across the private and public sectors in securing their strategic investment purchases, acting on over 400 freehold acquisitions. However, over and above this we have worked with our investor clients to help them maximise their rental income in the short and long term.
COVID-19 and associated new legislation posed numerous problems to investors, the most prominent of which being their restricted ability as landlords to recover possession and pursue claims for debts due under leases and take enforcement action. In many cases we took a two-pronged approach to tackling this for our investor clients: one, assisting them in recovering insurance money to cover losses in the short term and, two, helping those who hold assets in the retail and leisure sectors to complete new lease agreements which give their tenants the best chance of surviving and thus paying rent long term.
