Sport spider
Ifever there was a sports car destined to become an Affordable Classic, it would be the Fiat 124 Sport Spider. At its launch in late 1966, it represented a dramatic step forward from its predecessors and combined three important ingredients
into a very appealing recipe: enduring Pininfarina styling that hinted at such icons as the Ferrari 275 and the Corvette Rondine concept car; spirited (relatively speaking) performance from its dual overhead cam 1438 cc engine and, most importantly,
a reasonable price tag. It was a mixture that stood the test of time, remaining in production for 20 years with nearly 200,000 built.
