WAYNE’S TAKE
 BMW 1600/2002: Their deceptively functional exteriors camouflaged one of the best-driving cars of the 1970s. The fuel-injected tii versions were the best German GTs until the M3, but even the base cars are tremendous fun.
Relatively weak rear structure is prone to rust. Rising prices
  require a detailed inspection.
ÅWell-maintained original cars becoming tough to find – and increasingly expensive
ARelatively simple mechanically with good parts availability
