As a graphic designer, fabricator, and visual researcher, I have always had a challenge of knowing where to stop researching a project, and when to pick up my medium and get to work. The crossroads in this project was understanding where my client’s needs (in this instance, those of my wonderfully talented classmates) intersected my own artistic voice then making the most of that convergence.
For this series of travel posters, I relied heavily on the stylistic choices my clients were using in their own space resort projects and developed a common colour palette and graphic style that represents the entire body of work. Originally, I had considered creating individual pieces that would be a direct focus on the work I was referencing, however, this became visually messy. Upon reflection, the message was getting lost in translation. By simplifying my own concept, I was able to create something that communicates much more fluently, both as individual pieces and as a larger series.
