WAY OUT WEST. The lush green forests of Washington are not the “true West,” but the
driver of the winning Ferrari 410 at Seafair in 1956 certainly was a character out of the
Old West. Former chicken farmer Carroll Shelby was establishing a fine record that would
soon expand internationally. He is being greeted by Stetson-wearing car owner John
Edgar. The famed California entrant had a large paddock presence in Bremerton that
