The Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NuPEA) was established under the Energy Act, 2019 and succeeded the Kenya Nuclear Electricity Board (KNEB). NuPEA is mandated to fast-track the development and implementation of the nuclear power programme in Kenya, carry out research
and development and capacity building in the energy and petroleum sectors.
