Letter from the President
Dear Friends, Partners, and Supporters
In 2020, COVID 19 significantly impacted everyone with the worldwide global pandemic. The first order of business was developing the new protocols to keep staff, workers, and volunteers safe. The CEO and Management did an outstanding job in pivoting to this new environment and allowing everyone to be safe and for EMBERS to provide employment opportunities for hundreds of workers.
In recent years, EMBERS has been recognized for their outstanding work and received numerous awards. The geographic expansion of EMBERS has proven successful covering the Metro Vancouver region and into the Fraser Valley. The robust construction industry employed hundreds of workers in well paid
construction jobs and is the backbone of EMBERS Staffing Solutions.
EMBERS Eastside Works is a pilot employment project and tackles challenging employment objectives for residents of the Downtown Eastside.
Training of EMBERS workers is a valuable differentiator and creates opportunities for workers to improve their earning power and ongoing employment. EMBERS Training division continues to grow, and the successes are acknowledged via extensions of Government contracts and securing additional funding for new contracts.
Since 2012, the Community Employment Services (CES) Program has been connected to EMBERS with the contract for the Vancouver West Parole Region. In July 2020, Embers received additional CES work for the Fraser Valley.
EMBERS achieved significant results in 2020 despite the impact of COVID 19. Record financial results with more workers being employed, strong training results and the introduction of new programs. The Board of Directors wish to thank the staff, volunteers, sponsors, governments, and the business community for your support and helping EMBERS build stronger communities.
Barry Fenton
2020 President, EMBERS Board of Directors
