                  CHOOSING YOUR POLYWIRE AND ROPE
Conductivity of the fence wiring
Long lengths of electric fence can only function using fence wiring with good conductivity. When using 4 wires of 2.5mm steel, fences up to 120km can be considered when there is no vegetation. using only one wire of the same, the maximum length drops to 30km.
If you go down to one compact-polywire that has 6 x Ø 0.20mm stainless steel strands, the maximum length of fence goes down to 250m. If there is vegetation at the fence, then these figures drop considerably. The fence wire must be carefully selected depending on the desired fence length and the anticipated vegetation growth.
   SUMMARY:
Choose fence wire, polywire, polyrope or polytape with the following maximum resistance:
Up to 400m fence lengths – max. 2.4 ohms/m Up to 3,000m fence lengths – max. 0.32ohms/m Up to 8,000m fence lengths – max. 0.13 ohms/m
  8000 volts at the beginning of the fence
7500 volts at a fence length of 1000m
800 volts at a fence length of 1000m
 High conductive fence wire
Poor conductive fence wire
 In longer fence lengths, only high conductivity fence wires ensure maximum performance to the end of the fence.
