Finishes
Galvanised
A ‘hot-dip’ or ‘spelter’ galvanised nish approximately 60 microns thick. The product is dipped in molten zinc, resulting in a thick, rough coating that has high corrosion resistance.
Zinc Plated
These products have been nished with a process of electroplating zinc onto steel, resulting in a shiny nish about 6-8 microns thick. Although Zinc plated products are typically cheaper than Galvanised ones, they usually rust more easily due to the thinner coating.
Pre-Galvanised
These products are fabricated from sheet steel that has already been galvanised, giving a nish approximately 20 microns
thick. The resulting corrosion resistance is between that of hot- dip galvanising and zinc plating.
Epoxy Black/ Epoxy Brown
Polyester powder coating is baked or sprayed onto the raw metal, resulting in a smooth nish. Medium corrosion resistance, however on moving parts the nish can ake off, meaning the steel will corrode more easily.
Ruspert
Ruspert is a rustproof treatment technology with superior corrosion resistance. An organic coating containing aluminium akes and special rustproof paint passivates the metallic layer chemically, prevents intrusion
of corrosive factors from outside and controls the self-sacri cial galvanic effect of zinc. Our high performance screws, decking screws and hex head timber screws all have a ruspert nish for ultimate performance and longevity.
Zinc Plated/YP
These products have a zinc plated nish with an additional yellow passivating treatment. This extra layer increases
the corrosion resistance and gives the product a light yellow appearance.
Self Colour
Un nished steel. These products are typically used in fabrication, and will naturally rust very quickly – this should be removed prior to galvanisation.
Premium Black
A hot-dip galvanised nish with a black polyester powder coating on top. This double layer results in a high level
of corrosion resistance and attractive, smooth appearance.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is an iron alloy with a high level of chromium, giving it an external layer that is virtually rust free. Our premium stainless steel products are made from grade 316 stainless steel, which is a marine grade stainless steel for ultimate corrosion resistance! Ideal for coastal and other high-moisture areas.
Pewter
Zinc coating is applied, followed by a pewter nish and a clear lacquer to achieve this beautiful nish. Pewter nish highlights the texture of the steel attractively, however pewter products will need regular wiping with an oily cloth to keep them in good condition.
