A photograph taken on May 29, 2006. Its easily noticed while traveling between Exeter and Visalia on highway 198. Opened on July 28, 1950 it is my first recollection of seeing
a movie. With my parents we saw “Strategic Air Command” with Jimmy Stewart & June Allison. The last picture show to play here was the movie made of this book.
As time pressed forward there were movies with friends and with girlfriends. Eventually as a sign of the times, the drive-in closed, the speaker poles removed the concession stand torn down. Today it’s a six acre vacant lot presided over by this deteriating marquee.
