Early Years Foundation Stage

Early Years Foundation Stage consists of two year groups, Nursery and Reception. Taught in small classes, our Early Years Foundation Stage is the perfect place for your daughter to begin her school life. Girls can join the School in the half term following their third birthday and our carefully thought out routine and outstanding support programme ensure that they get off to an excellent start.
We have a very flexible approach to help you choose the best option for you and your family – whether that is three regular mornings or a full week. No matter which option you choose, our varied curriculum means that your daughter will benefit from our rolling programme of topics and activities as well as enjoying plenty of play and socialising.
Whilst the emphasis for 3 to 4 year olds is firmly on learning through play, we are located in the heart of the School and girls benefit hugely from the specialist teaching and facilities available to them. From the age of three they will participate in weekly Forest School sessions, learn French, apply new ICT skills, experience a wide range of sports in PE, experiment with musical instruments and discover new artistic talents.
Reception is a very important year in the Early Years Foundation Stage. The emphasis is still very much on play, but girls start to get used to a more structured approach to learning. Well-planned play, both indoors and outdoors, provides key opportunities for young children to learn with enjoyment and challenge. With adult support and a stimulating, safe and secure environment, the children thrive and flourish.
When the time comes to move on to the main part of the School, girls are already happy and confident in their environment, making the transition smooth and easy for girls and parents alike.
