CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS WORKSHOP
As part of the Headington Association’s programme of reaching out in an innovative way to parents, alumnae and staff, the Christmas wreath making workshop was a tremendous success. Led by local florist, Petite Fleur, our Christmas wreath makers received expert tuition on the secrets of the art and left absolutely delighted with their creativity. By popular demand, the event will be back in time for Christmas 2017.
SCIENCE & MEDICS NETWORKING EVENT
Involving parents, alumnae and pupils from both Headington and Magdalen College Schools, more than 90 people gathered at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History in January 2017 for a Science and Medics Networking evening. The event was sponsored by the Headington Association and our guest speaker was Professor Dame Frances Ashcroft, Royal Society GlaxoSmithKline Research Professor,
Dept of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics
at Oxford University. Dame Frances delivered an inspirational talk on her life and career, specifically her work in the field of neo-natal diabetes for which she won an UNESCO award in 2012. After the talk, those attending had the opportunity to speak to Dame Frances and ask questions about careers in Science.
ARTS & MEDIA NETWORKING EVENT
Award-winning advertising copywriter, Chris West, was guest speaker at the second Headington Association Arts and Media Networking event in March 2017. Chris gave a revealing talk
on how to forge a career in advertising before examining the language of brands in the Trump era. Before and after Chris’ talk, guests were able to network in the fascinating surroundings
of the Museum of Brands in Notting Hill. The Headington networking programme introduces pupils and young alumnae to experienced practitioners in their chosen fields.
Director of Development Tim Edge said: “It was really heartening to see careers advice and mentoring links being forged which might have a lasting benefit to the future careers of students and alumnae.”
