 Douglas County Sheriff ’s Office
  Sheriff Tony Spurlock
The Douglas County Sheriff ’s Office (DCSO) has been protecting the residents of unincorporated Douglas County since 1861. What began as a single sworn sheriff in the “old west” wrangling cattle thieves, has come a long way in becoming the wonderful community that we live, work and play in today.
The DCSO is comprised of approximately 600 employees and 250 Volunteers under the leadership of Sheriff Tony Spurlock, all working hard to keep Douglas County one of the most beautiful and safe communities in the country.
Who we serve: While police agencies serve incorporated cities/towns/municipalities that pay for a police force within that jurisdiction, the DCSO is statutorily required to provide jail services and law enforcement to unincorporated areas of the County and can also take legal action within incorporated areas as required. The Village is unique in that most of the day-to-day, non-criminal enforcement is handled by Castle Pines Emergency Services – to include most traffic related enforcement, as the roadways within the Village are private. When a criminal act is committed outside of their scope, the DCSO will respond appropriately as needed.
Is there crime in the Village? Unfortunately, no community is immune to crime. Most crimes that occur within Douglas County are crimes of opportunity related to unsecured property. These crimes usually consist of unlocked vehicles or open garage doors, making for an easy target for items left inside. Some other common crimes
are related to fraud and identity theft. To prevent yourself from becoming a victim, make sure to use different passwords on all your accounts, change your passwords occasionally, and make them difficult to hack using random letters, numbers and characters. It is also a great idea to make sure that your WiFi network is secure by
changing the default name and password protecting the network. Take the appropriate steps every day to keep your property,
finances, and family secure.
The DCSO is extremely grateful to have such an amazing and supportive community to serve. We look forward to continuing
the incredible partnership that we are all a part of to keep this amazing place safe and beautiful. To learn more about the DCSO,
