The Rock Canyon High School (RCHS) football season came to an end in mid- November, and Jaguar nation has much to be proud of in 2021. This season is the first time they advanced to the second round of the state playoffs. The last time RCHS was in the state playoffs was in 2015.
Unfortunately, the Jags lost to Legend High School in round two. Despite the loss which ended the season, RCHS still came out ahead. At the time of writing, the Jags lead Colorado 5A in rushing, with an average of 296.5 yards per game. RCHS was ranked fourth for total offensive yards with 373.9 per game. “Our defense has improved tremendously this season,” said Head Coach Kevin Meyer.
Prior to the second-round playoff game, the Jaguars held a 3-2 conference standing, and
they won four out of five of the last regular season games.
Meyer gave credit to the hard work of the entire team for the past six months when he said, “Our team has made huge strides since starting summer workouts June 7 and throughout the season.” The determination of players and coaches was evident.
A recent tweet from Rock Canyon Football sums up the season: “2021 season came to a close last night; we definitely had a lot more highs than lows, hit goals, fell short on some, but looking forward to a great off-season of work! Thank you to all the fans, staff, parents, & @RockCanyonHS for making this season a success.”
