The holiday season is here and there is no better destination for browsing, shopping, dining and ultimately relaxing than Denver’s posh little enclave, Cherry Creek North (CCN). Southeast of downtown between University Boulevard and Steele Street, CCN is a “mixed-use” district with everything from haute cuisine and couture to specialty gift and home furnishing stores. CCN has more than 270 businesses and notably, Denver’s highest concentration of locally-owned businesses. About one third of the business are women- owned.
“Cherry Creek North continues to draw in locals and out-of-town visitors with its dynamic restaurant scene, specialty boutiques, one-of-a-kind services, luxury accommodations and more,” stated Jeannie M. Johnson, director of marketing and communication for CCN. “Our charming outdoor environment, made up of sixteen walkable and tree-lined blocks, provides a clean and safe atmosphere to stroll with family, friends or Fido,” she added.
For the family member that is hard to buy for, Show of Hands is an art and gift gallery offering unique finds to fit any budget – a birdhouse night light, a Colorado-themed Lazy Susan, or a Marrakesh mixing spoon, to name a few.
Hillstone is a scratch kitchen restaurant with amazing cuisine, an outdoor fireplace and outstanding service. Start with the grilled artichokes, then the Hawaiian (ribeye steak with soy, ginger and pineapple marinade) and finish with the hot fudge sundae.
The restaurant, Narrative, has an award- winning chef who boasts lobster corndogs, watermelon salad and a popular weekend brunch (to include the Bloody Mary).
One of Cherry Creek North’s special events is “Winter Wanderland,” held November 18 through December 31 and free to the public. The festivities include an interactive art installation and a holiday market with 30 local vendors on Fillmore Plaza. Order an herbal tea to-go at Ku Cha House of Tea and take in the holiday lights on more than 600 trees.
For those considering a staycation, Cherry Creek North has five luxury hotels and several salons and spas. “Because we know there’s a drive involved for Castle Pines residents,” Johnson added, “it’s worth noting that there are more than 5,000 parking spaces available throughout the district.”
